Drivers of Minis are being warned after a spate of wing mirror thefts across North Herts and Stevenage.

Police are appealing for information after 12 wing mirrors, or wing mirror casings, were stolen from cars in Swinburne Avenue, Bedford Road and Whinbush Road, Letchworth’s Common View and Walnut Avenue and High Street in Baldock.

This follows similar incidents in Milday Road, Torquay Crescent, Twinwoods, Scarborough Avenue and Hillcrest in Stevenage.

North Herts Inspector Duncan Sales said: “These thefts have caused the owners an unnecessary expense in replacing the stolen or damaged mirrors and we are keen to catch the person, or people, responsible as soon as possible.

“I am appealing to anyone who thinks they may know anything about these incidents to come forward. Any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, could greatly assist the investigation.

“I would also urge anyone who sees any suspicious activity around Minis and all other vehicles to please contact police straight away.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
