On Tuesday, October 31 there is a short service at the Methodist Chapel to commemorate the laying of eleven memorial stones exactly a hundred years ago. The stones laid in 1906 included those set in place by Thomas Ashton the baker from Knoll House, Bob Davis of Rectory Farm, Charles Wilkinson of Pirton House, and Mr. A. Donson, headmaster of Pirton School. About 300 people attended the 1906 occasion and this year's commemorative service will be led by Rev Andrew Maguire, superintendent minister of the North Herts Circuit. It is hoped that as many people will come to this first event of our Centenary Year as attended one hundred years ago, contact 712208.
