To thank Roy Waterfield from Mid Beds District Council for making it possible for the Biggleswade skatepark to open again after being closed down through lack of funding to help pay for the insurance. The £2,600 grant was most welcome with Biggleswade Town Council grant of £2,000, it made up the amount needed to pay for the insurance. It is hoped insurance problems will be resolved in the future. The Biggleswade skatepark is the only one in the country where volunteers and young people have to raise the necessary insurance costs as well as pensioners having to clean the skatepark. A big thank must go to The Comet and the local media for highlighting the skater's serious plight in closing down the skatepark. The skatepark is a great community project for young people in Biggleswade and district and is very well used and is well managed by the trustees. The investment of £250,000 the cost of building the skatepark has been a terrific success and has given the local youngsters lots of pleasure and somewhere to spend their leisure time throughout the years.
