Dean Parrett says only other derby he’s been involved in is Spurs v Arsenal as a youngster

Dean Parrett says people have been telling him all about the Luton Town rivalry ahead of this weekend’s game.

The midfielder, who scored the winning goal against Carlisle last weekend, says he is looking forward to the crunch match, but added that he had not really been involved in many derby games so far in his career.

“Luton are just outside [the play-offs], and it’s going to be a tough game as they’ve been pushing for it as well,” Parrett told the Comet.

“I’ve heard it’s a big rivalry game, I’ve heard from people it’s a big match and it’s the sort of game that you want to come away with a win whatever happens.

“This is my first proper season, really. When I was at Tottenham [in the youth teams] we used to play Arsenal and as a Tottenham fan that used to be my rivalry. I knew what that was about.

“But this is men’s football now; it’s a different kettle of fish.”

Boro will take more than 1,000 fans to Kenilworth Road this weekend already safe in the knowledge that they have made the play-offs thanks to Parrett’s winner on Saturday.

“We’ve picked up some good points when we haven’t played well, but I think we played well [on Saturday],” Parrett said.

“We passed the ball around and used it well. We could have scored a few more goals.

“We’re in the play-offs now and we need to make sure that we go into them in good form.”
