STUDENTS and staff at Marriotts School in Stevenage are celebrating record-breaking GCSE results.
The school's highest ever proportion of students - 64 per cent - achieved five or more A* to C grades, with almost two in five of these students securing a C or above in English and maths.
High flyers include Katie Barker with six A*s and five As, Ida Asadi with six A*s, three As and one B, Gaby Curtis with five A*s, three As and three Bs, and Jane Watson with five A*s, three As and two Bs.
Speaking about the GCSE results as a whole, headteacher Patrick Marshall said: "This is an excellent performance and I am delighted that everyone's efforts have been rewarded.
"These results represent a 43 per cent increase in the number of students gaining five or more good GCSE passes since 2002.
"We have been working for many years to raise our standards and I am delighted that 2009 has continued our tradition of rising standards.
"We are celebrating every child's success today. It has been a significant achievement and I wish to congratulate my staff team for their hard work.
