Barley care home residents enjoy Stepping Out day at St Paul’s Walden Bury

Barley care home residents enjoyed a day at scenic St Paul’s Walden Bury as part of the Stepping Out with Carers initaitive.
The excursion for Margaret House Residential and Dementia Care Home was organised by the Ramblers in assocation with carer support groups, and funded by the National Lottery through Sport England.
The care home residents enjoyed exploring the garden and grounds before a lunch hosted by the Queen Mother’s nephew Simon Bowes-Lyon in the billard room.
Now 86 years old, remembered the Queen Mother as a young woman with “a lot of sparkle”.
Sam Adby from Margaret House said: “It’s been lovely here – to come along with someone who doesn’t normally get out much to walk and enjoy the scenery has been wonderful.”
Margaret House resident Enid Denchfield, 83, said: “I had a fantastic day out, especially having a go on the tree swing – I feel like a different person.”
