THIS is the first picture the Metropolitan Police has released of a Sandy man wanted for fleeing before his trial for people trafficking.

The Metropolitan Police has launched a nationwide hunt for Ali Ekber Surensoy, a 33-year-old Kurd, who was sentenced in his absence to 10 years imprisonment along with his accomplice Mustafa Gozcu at Isleworth Crown Court in December last year.

Both men failed to appear and the Metropolitan Police has now launched a hunt for both men with the support of the BBC Crimewatch programme.

Police say Surensoy was part of a major operation to smuggle people into the UK by air, land and sea.

Police say his last known place of work was at the US Fried Chicken Shop in High Street, Sandy, which was owned by his brother.

Anyone who knows of Surensoy's whereabouts should call 0870 000 0038.
