A man in his 40s was taken to hospital for excessive alcohol consumption after collapsing in a Hitchin park last night.
The man was treated by paramedics in Bancroft Park around 8.30pm before being taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
An eye-witness said: “The man was absolutely paralytic. I spotted him on all fours before he collapsed in a heap.
“I don’t know if he’d been drinking heavily in pubs beforehand or was a homeless person abusing alcohol, but he was completely out of it and lay face down on the grass oblivious to everything.”
The ambulance service confirmed the man’s condition was not life-threatening.
