A man suffered facial injuries after a violent attack in Shefford at the weekend.
The victim was attacked by an unknown number of people as he walked along Bedford Road between 10.20pm and 10.40pm on Saturday evening.
The man in his 40s from the village also had his mobile and wallet stolen in the assault.
Investigating officer Det Con Oly Tomlinson said: “This appears to be a completely unprovoked, violent attack.
“I’d be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or anything unusual in this area around this time, to contact me with information.”
