A 40-year-old man appeared before Bedford Magistrates' Court on Friday charged with the rape of a 74-year-old woman in the grounds of Fairfield Hospital, Stotfold, in September, 1984.
Paul Reeve, of Larne Road, Lincoln, was given conditional bail and will appear at Luton Crown Court on May 11.
The victim has since died.
