A MAN was lucky to escape serious injury when a fire broke out in a tower block last night (Sunday).
Firefighters were called to High Plash in Cuttys Lane, Stevenage, just after 11.30pm, to reports of a fire on the 11th floor.
Three fire crews, two from Stevenage and one from Hitchin, attended but the fire was out when they arrived.
The male occupant suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation so an ambulance was called.
Ambulance service spokesman, Gary Sanderson, said: "He was very lucky to only receive minor injuries and, following a check-up by paramedics, he did not require to go to hospital.
