POLICE appealed this morning (Tuesday) for witnesses and information after an assault which left a man unconscious.
It happened on Friday at around 2.50am in the area of the taxi rank by McDonald's on Stevenage Leisure Park.
It is believed the attacker punched a man in the back of the head, causing him to fall unconscious, before fleeing the scene.
The victim received injuries which needed hospital treatment.
Dc Lee Baker, investigating, said: "The leisure park is subject to a dedicated police operation which aims to prevent alcohol-related disorder and violent crime. The operation has proved extremely successful in reducing crime, and incidents such as these have greatly reduced.
"However, this is a serious assault, which we believe was witnessed by a number of people and would ask anyone with information to contact police as a matter of urgency."
Anyone with information is asked to ring police on the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
