A MAN has appeared in court following the discovery of the body of a Stevenage woman in his garden.
Robert Chalmers, of Magdalene Drive in the Duddingston area of Edinburgh, faces charges of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The remains of Samantha Wright, a 25-year-old who moved from Archer Road in Stevenage to Edinburgh four years ago, were found by police in a "receptacle" in Mr Chalmers' garden on Monday last week.
Ms Wright had been missing since June last year. Her parents, Catherine Gibson and Jeremy Wright, still live in Stevenage.
Mr Chalmers, 57, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody while further inquiries into the case are conducted.
