A man died in Hitchin on Tuesday despite an air ambulance landing in a park in an attempt to help save his life, emergency services have confirmed.
The man in his 70s went into cardiac arrest after he collapsed on Taylor’s Hill near to Standhill Road in the town at around 10.50am.
However, despite the best efforts of emergency services, including a crew from the Essex Air Ambulance – which landed at the Recreation Ground off St John’s Road – the man died at the scene.
