The British Transport Police have now confirmed that a man sadly died this morning after being struck by a train north of Biggleswade.
BTP officers – along with colleagues from Bedfordshire Police and medics from the ambulance service – were called to an area north of the station at about 10.30am this morning, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are working to identify the man and inform their next of kin.
A BTP spokeswoman said the incident is not currently being treated as suspicious, and that a file will be prepared for the coroner.
There is continued disruption between Stevenage and Peterborough, with services not expected to return to normal before 3pm.
A points failure at Hitchin is also causing delays of up to 10 minutes on journeys between Stevenage and Peterborough/Cambridge. This is expected to continue until at least 4pm.
