Man charged with hospital charity box theft

A 36-year-old from Stevenage has been arrested and charged after a man was caught on CCTV stealing a charity box for sick children.

Iain Findlay of York Road was arrested on Friday afternoon and charged with suspicion of theft after a man was captured on CCTV stealing a Great Ormond Street Hospital charity box from The Granby pub in the town on October 9.

The Comet published a photo from the CCTV footage last week prompting a number of calls to the police.

Findlay is currently on bail and due to return to Stevenage Police Station on October 28.
