A cyclist was attacked after being approached by five men in Hitchin.

The victim, a 33-year-old man, was cycling along the road near Chic Bar in Churchyard Walk between 3am and 3.30am on Saturday, March 23.

He was approached by five men, all around 19 years old, and they got into a verbal disagreement. One of the men punched the cyclist in the face, leaving him with a cut, a swollen lip and a bloody nose.

The attacker is described as wearing a light grey hoodie with the hood up.

PC Simon Hancock, who is investigating, said: “This incident happened in a busy area in the early hours of a Saturday morning so it’s likely that there would have been many witnesses.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and might have seen what happened to get in contact with me.
