A man arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 29-year-old from Stevenage has now been released without charge.

The 40-year-old man from Brent Cross in London was bailed and had been due to return to Stevenage Police Station next month, but was released without charge yesterday with no further action to be taken.

Police confirmed yesterday that the death of a man who was taken ill at Cheviot Way during the early hours of New Year’s Eve was being treated as ‘non-suspicious’, following a post-mortem the previous day.

The man, who has yet been named, was taken from Cheviot Way by ambulance and died shortly after in hospital.
