Officers have arrested a man at Hitchin swimming pool after reports that he was ‘being verbally abusive to people and refusing to leave’.

Officers were called to the pool, off Fishponds Road and Elmside Walk, at about 12.45pm – with a man in his 30s arrested and taken into custody.

A police spokeswoman told the Comet that as the man was still being processed by police following his arrest, there are no further details available at this stage.

Update: A police spokeswoman said on May 26 that the man has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
