A man has admitted driving about nine miles along the A1(M) in the wrong direction.

Luke Goodall appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen when directed by police and dangerous driving.

The 26-year-old admitted driving his silver Ford Fiesta southbound on the northbound carriageway of the A1(M) on August 7 from Junction 7 for Stevenage to near Hatfield’s Junction 4 – where police used a road block to stop the car.

Goodall, who lives in Southampton, is not allowed to drive again prior to his sentencing, which is due to take place at St Albans Crown Court on October 10.
