Striker in contention for a run-out against Scunthorpe this weekend

Stevenage boss Graham Westley says striker Guy Madjo ‘did himself a lot of credit’ during his debut against Carlisle United on Saturday.

Madjo has been working his way back to match fitness after joining the club in the summer and impressed at Brunton Park after replacing Jennison Myrie-Williams at half time.

And with Chris Beardsley, Darius Charles and Ben May all working their way back from injury, Madjo has put himself in contention for another run-out when Scunthorpe United visit the Lamex Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking after the game, Westley said: “Well Jenn, to be fair to him, tweaked his hammy towards the end of the first half so it was an enforced change, but I have to say Guy did himself a lot of credit.

“He held the ball up, he worked very well in tight areas and carved out a couple of good moments particularly one where he got to the byline and pulled it back and we just didn’t get on the end of it. He made a difference, he made an impact and it was nice for him to get his first minutes in a Stevenage shirt.”
