Firearms officers and a police helicopter were out in Stevenage last night searching for four men after reports one had a knife – with a Luton teenager subsequently arrested.
Police were alerted at 7.30pm to reports that a group of four men had been seen in Jessop Road, with one allegedly holding a knife.
Following a search – including a police helicopter in the skies and armed officers on the ground – a 19-year-old man from Luton was arrested in Sutcliffe Close on suspicion of having an offensive weapon in a public place. He remains in custody at this time.
Officers were spotted searching bushes at the scene last night, and a police spokeswoman said investigations into the incident are on-going.
