A BROKEN down lorry caused a busy road into Hitchin to shut during rush hour last night (Tuesday).
Police had to cordon off the A602 at the Coreys Mill roundabout in Stevenage at around 6pm, after a lorry broke down just past the Ashbrook Lane junction.
Traffic was very heavy around the roundabout during the closure, causing delays joining and exiting Junction 8 for Stevenage on the A1(M).
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said the road was clear by 9pm but they were unable to say when the A602 reopened.
