A Stotfold man will take on the 26.2-mile challenge in London on Sunday for the first time – fulfilling a lifetime ambition.

Andrew Porter, 71, will run the London Marathon to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.

He told the Comet: “I have been a keen runner for 25 years and it has been a lifetime goal for me to run a marathon, especially in London.

“I will be running the race for Children with Cancer UK. Every day 12 families in the UK receive the devastating news that their child has cancer. Through funding vital specialist research, Children with Cancer UK has done everything in its power to give these children the best chance to survive.”

Children with Cancer UK also helps fund patient family accommodation near hospitals so families can stay together during their children's treatment.
