A Stevenage man accused of besieging a London office block while claiming to have a bomb has been remanded in custody by magistrates.

Michael Green, 48, of Archer Road, Stevenage is accused of a bomb hoax, possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid/gas or electrical incapacitating device, false imprisonment and causing criminal damage and recklessly endangering life.

He appeared before Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today and spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address. He was remanded until July 24 when he will appear before Blackfriars Crown Court.

Tottenham Court Road was closed for several hours on Friday and hundreds of people were evacuated while police marksmen surrounded a building stormed by a man threatening to let off a bomb.
