ONE of London’s most notorious gangsters is coming to Hitchin.

An Audience with Dave Courtney is a show hosted by the legend himself who has lived a colourful life in our capitals criminal underworld.

Courtney, who lives in South London district Plumstead, is presenting his show at The Venue on Sunday 7 April.

Drawing him in to Hitchin is the work of his close friend and promoter Darren Nicholhurst.

Darren told The Comet: “Dave is one of the most notorious gangsters in London. He provided security at the funeral of the Krays, has been to prison many a time and really has lived a breathtaking life.

“Now he has to keep himself clean and touring around doing shows such as the one he’s doing in Hitchin gives him a chance to talk about how crime doesn’t pay.

“He has seen and experienced many things, his other half’s son was killed in a shooting and he was the inspiration behind the character Vinnie Jones played in the film Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

“He has a rather huge following, all different generations are fascinated by his life. He has a lump of a guy with a harsh face but on his shows he is well respected by everybody.”

Since rising to infamous notoriety Dave has released best selling books and directed and appeared in his own film, as well as helping charitable organisations such as The Princes Trust.

Tickets are £10 and can be purchased on the door or by calling Darren to book on 07951811863. Doors open at 7pm.
