LITTER louts will face a hefty fine from tomorrow (Friday) if they continue to be environmentally unfriendly.
Stevenage Borough Council officers will have the power to issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) to litter louts and other people committing environmental crimes such as dog fouling, graffiti and abandoning vehicles.
Police community support officers (PCSOs) will also be able to issue fixed penalties for a similar range of offences.
Councillor Richard Henry, executive member for environment and e-government, said: "Our officers concerned have all been thoroughly trained and can issue notices to either individuals or businesses.''
In all cases except dog fouling the FPN is £75 if paid within 14 days reduced to £50 if paid within 10 days. Dog fouling is £50 in 14 days with no reduction.
