A MAN was airlifted to hospital after he was shot in an attack at his home in Lilley today.
The victim in his 40s was shot in the stomach at his home in Rueley Dell Road shortly before 3pm.
A villager, who did not want to be named, said the man was found bleeding in the middle of the road and two men in a black 4x4 were seen speeding away from the scene.
The Herts air ambulance was scrambled to take the man to The Royal London Hospital while police searched the area by helicopter and with dogs.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said last night that the man was in a stable condition.
Police are still examining the crime scene.
