A fundraising push backed by the Hitchin Tilehouse Rotary Club switched on support for three good causes.
The club’s annual Light Up A Life project sees a tree in the shadow of the town’s historic St Mary’s Church decked with twinkling tributes to lost loves ones, with relatives sponsoring lights to raise funds for charity.
The club’s annual carol service celebration around the tree is another moneyspinner for the selected charities.
Steve Albon of Keech Hospice Care, Lucy Watson of Marie Curie Cancer Care and Jo Wiffen of Garden House Hospice were all invited to the club’s regular breakfast meeting at the town’s Sun Hotel on Friday morning and were each presented with a £1,000 doanation from Chris Holmes, who headed up the Light Up A Life project.
