POTTON Library's 50th anniversary week of celebrations kick off on Saturday supported by the Potton Twining Association.

The association will be holding a wein fest and barbecue in the Market Square next to the Clock House where the library is housed.

"We are inviting everyone to come along and make it a special day and also enjoy a glass or two of wine and perhaps one of our famous Bratwurst hot dogs," said Dave Thompson of the association.

The fun starts at 10am and there will also be a special exhibition of pictures at the community centre in Brook End by the Potton Historical Society reflecting 50 years of Potton Market Square.

The festivities continue on Monday at 10.30am when there is a free puppet-making workshop for children five to 11 years old at the library.

A quiz night is being held the following day in the library at 7.30pm and international best-selling author Carole Matthews will be giving a talk at the community centre on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Tickets for the event can be obtained from the library.

Nursery rhymes and music for the under-fives will be the party theme on Thursday at 11am in the library.

The big party celebrations take place on Friday, July 28, from 3pm in the library when there will be a big cake and refreshments for visitors and prizes handed out to the card competition winners.
