Sewing enthusiasts wanting to improve their technique saw Libby deliver three 90-minute sessions throughout the day which guided people through the basics of using a sewing machine as well as offering new crafting ideas.

Hobbycraft Manager Sam Longhurst said: “The event was a great hit with our customers, and although people were asked to book their places beforehand, demand was so high that we had many turning up on the day hoping for a place. Libby is an extremely talented craftswoman and her reputation certainly precedes her.”

Throughout the day, Libby covered all the sewing fundamentals, demonstrating various techniques on the sewing machine as well as easy tips and exercises to assist people in their proficiency.

She said afterwards: “I love sharing my enthusiasm for crafts. My workshops are dedicated to encouraging people’s own love of creating, helping them become more adept at sewing as well as learning to use different fabrics. It is also great for the soul and my classes are a fun, social occasion providing an opportunity to relax while learning.”

Libby Rose, who is based in Greenwich, has been sewing since she was a child and her passion has continued into adulthood. She now travels the area in her pink sewing bus. Her flare for creating is passed on through the workshops she delivers and she has even set up her own clothing line.

Phil Huby of Aberdeen Asset Management which manages the Roaring Meg, said: “We are thrilled that the workshops were so popular. They really appealed to so many, with all the attendees taking so much away from Libby’s excellent tutoring. The day really brought the local community together on both a social level and through a love of sewing.”
