A man allegedly pushed a woman to the floor and repeatedly kicked and punched her in Letchworth, with police today launching an appeal for witnesses.

The alleged incident is described as happening on Thursday, May 24, in Hawkfield. The victim suffered bruising.

Police said both people were believed to be known to each other.

Det Con Paul Ambrose said: “I’m appealing for anyone who saw the incident to get in touch. In particular I’d like to hear from a woman or man who helped the victim back to her vehicle after the alleged assault.”

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, and has been released under investigation while police enquiries continue.
