Letchworth woman fined 2k for noise offences
A WOMAN who had audio equipment seized from her property has been ordered to pay 2,115 after being found guilty of four domestic noise offences.
Joanne Palmer, 32, of Grange Road in Letchworth GC, appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court last week after a prosecution was brought by North Herts District Council (NHDC).
The chairman of the bench, who described Palmer as having a “disregard of authority” after disobeying notices by not attending court, also said the audio equipment seized by the council last Novemeber should be forfeited.
Speaking last Wednesday, Andy Godman, NHDC’s head of housing and public protection, said: “We hope that today’s prosecution sends a clear message to offenders that unreasonable loud music on domestic premises is not acceptable. We know that persistent noise disturbance can be extremely stressful for neighbours and we are pleased with today’s outcome.”
