Sarah Cummins from Garden City Montessori School – which has recently been awarded recognition from Montessori Education UK – is asking for donations for Christmas hampers to be dropped off at the school.

She told the Comet: “When I opened the doors to Garden City Montessori, nearly three years ago, I not only wanted to provide an educational setting that meets the needs of children but also guides them and inspires them to be good citizens of the world.

“Small acts of kindness, the gift of giving, a simple smile or hello, can change someone’s day.”

Sarah is encouraging students and families at Garden City Montessori to get involved with the donations.

“Our children learn they have it within them to do good for others,” she continued.

“Although our children are exposed to these acts daily in school, from greeting us with a hand shake in the morning to offering our visitors a snack or drink, we always want them to be mindful of the world around them.

“Our young children have the ability to make great changes to the world and what better time than now to start guiding them.

“Last year the 14 families that benefited were so grateful and overwhelmed by the kindness of others.

“It was a privilege to be part of that and a number of school families that delivered the hampers were all met with love and gratitude.

“The environment we have prepared for the children, is helping to build strong, independent, caring individuals who are our future.”

This year Sarah wanted to create personalised packages for the families by asking them what they needed. Donations can be dropped off at the Garden City Montessori School up until December 13, or you can arrange directly with Sarah about donations following that date on sarah@montessorigc.com.

Sarah and other volunteers aim to deliver the hampers to the families on Decemeber 23 and 24.
