Emergency crews closed a Letchworth road this afternoon following a gas explosion.
Fire, Highways, police and National Grid personnel attending the scene of the ruptured gas main in Pixmore Avenue after the explosion at about 2.30pm.
Pixmore Avenue was closed for about an hour. A crew from Baldock & Letchworth fire station used a hosereel to damp down the surrounding buildings while gas engineers isolated the supply.
The Comet is awaiting further details from the police, fire service and Highways.
Letchworth’s Works Road was also closed in both directions this afternoon due to a fallen tree.
