A Letchworth resident and ex-councillor is due in court today (Friday) charged with defrauding a charity.
Geoff Hammond, of Sollershott East in Letchworth GC, was arrested at Charing Cross police station on September 17 and bailed until late November when the charges were brought against him.
The 50-year-old, formerly a Labour councillor for Higham Hill in Walthamstow, resigned from his position after an investigation was launched.
He is accused of defrauding an unnamed charity between May 2012 and July 2013 and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
