A 40-strong girls’ choir sang to a crowd of 10,000 including the Pope during a visit to the Vatican.
Students from St Francis’ College in Letchworth GC spent four days in Rome last month and sang to Pope Francis during his weekly general audience.
The visit also saw the choir, accompanied by the college’s 18-year-old organist Eileen Chen, perform the hymns and responses for mass at the main altar in St Peter’s Basilica.
Student Heather Fuller said: “This fantastic chance to sing for the Pope even tops my experience of singing for the Queen in 2011.”
