A paedophile and registered sex offender from Letchworth has pleaded guilty to a string of crimes involving child sex abuse images.

Harry Kirkwood, of Bedford Road, pleaded guilty to seven offences when he appeared before magistrates at Hatfield Remand Court last week.

The 55-year-old admitted five counts of distributing indecent photographs of children in Letchworth between last June and this month, as well as breaching a sexual harm prevention order and the Sexual Offences Act – by obtaining a laptop with internet access and failing to register it with police, and by failing to notify officers that he had changed residence for more than a week.

Kirkwood, who was already a registered sex offender, is now set to be sentenced by a crown court judge on July 13. Chairman of the bench Stephen Cane remanded him in custody in the meantime.
