A motorist who drove through Hitchin with illegal drugs in his system and without a licence or insurance has been banned from the road.

Patrick Connors, of Beech Hill in Letchworth, was caught at the wheel of a Ford Focus on the A505 Cambridge Road on March 2, with cannabis found to be in his blood.

The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to driving with illegal drugs in his system, without insurance and without a licence when he appeared before a district judge at St Albans Magistrates’ Court.

Ditrict Judge Annabel Pilling imposed a 12-month driving ban – mandatory for the offence – and ordered Connors to pay a total of £335 in fines, costs and surcharge.
