A man has been arrested after a police chase.

Police signalled for a man to stop his car while he was driving along Hitchin Road near Ickleford at around 11.10am this morning, Thursday.

The man kept driving until bringing his vehicle to a stop, jumping out and running towards train tracks near Arlesey.

The man, a 39-year-old from Letchworth, was chased on foot by police who arrested him on suspicion of dangerous driving and the theft of a motor vehicle.

Delays of 10 minutes were caused to trains running between Arlesey and Hitchin while the man was on the train tracks.
