A Letchworth man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 85-year-old man died in a reported domestic incident in the town yesterday.
Police were called to a house in Whitethorn Lane at 2.26pm and discovered the pensioner and a man aged in his 60s inside, both with serious injuries.
The 85-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The younger man was taken to hospital, where he remains – he is expected to make a full recovery.
A 60-year-old man from Letchworth has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident.
Det Insp Justine Jenkins, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit, said: “This is an isolated incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.
“We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this tragedy and investigations remain ongoing.
“Specially-trained officers are supporting the victim’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.”
