A fire in Letchworth in the early hours of this morning is believed to have been started deliberately, Herts Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed.

Crews from Stevenage and Letchworth & Baldock were called to reports of a fire in Lannock at 1.12am.

A spokesman for the fire service said two cars were alight before the blaze spread to a nearby fence and shed.

Crews reported the fire was out at 1.41am.
