A town’s annual festival is offering something for everyone with a jam-packed bill of events.

Now in its fifth year, Letchworth Festival will be ‘Celebrating Letchworth Life’ by promoting the town’s organisations, clubs and societies with more than 100 events in and around the town from June 6-22.

The festival launches at La Concha wine bar in Station Place between 3-6pm on Friday, June 6, and ends 17 days later with an evening of jazz, soul and a capella singing from the Hitchin Music Project at 8pm on Sunday, June 22.

Getting hearts racing will be the Letchworth Festival 5km run at Norton Common from 9am on Saturday, June 7, before a variety of town centre activities throughout the day including live music and dance with Streetfest, and a free family fun day at St Paul’s Church.

The following weekend, June 13-15, Broadway Cinema in Eastcheap will be hosting the Film Festival with a broad range of movies including To Kill a Mocking Bird, The Lion King, Rush and The World’s End.

The final weekend will see a Day of Dance on Saturday and the popular Proms in the Park in Howard Park from 1pm until 8pm on Sunday.

Mel Wold, chairman of the Letchworth Festival Steering Committee, said: “The festival is a great way to showcase the enormous talent and community spirit that we have in Letchworth. This year promises to be the best Letchworth Festival ever and once again ‘Celebrate Letchworth Life’.”

Raffle tickets will be on sale at events taking place throughout the festival and the raffle will be drawn at the Tourist Information Centre on Station Road on Monday, June 23. Also taking place throughout the festival will be a display of infant and primary schools’ artwork at Leys Avenue.
