A bus driver from Letchworth was suspended from his duties for four weeks after he did not stop to let an elderly passenger off a bus.
Piotr Chudzicki, of Hartington Place, was not allowed to drive professionally between March 3 and the end of the month, following a driver conduct hearing with Deputy Traffic Commissioner for the East of England, Marcia Davis.
A review of CCTV footage on the bus by the 45-year-old’s employer, Arriva, revealed that the passenger had moved towards the front of the vehicle approaching the stop.
The bus company concluded that the driver had an opportunity to stop his vehicle safely and allow the elderly passenger to get off the bus at the stop where she wanted to leave – but took her far beyond what was reasonable.
The driver’s action resulted in a Facebook campaign which generated more than 5,000 comments.
