Letchworth City Chorus singers complete Thames Path Challenge to support Parkinson’s disease

The quartet from City Chorus took part in last Saturday’s Thames Path Challenge, inspired by two fellow choristers who have been affected by Parkinson’s.

The team completed the walk in good time, about 30th out of 90 starters in the Hampton-to-Runnymede section of their time slot, and hope their efforts will help bring the choir’s fundraising total for Parkinson’s UK up to £2,000.

City Chorus have been fundraising for the charity for much of 2017, and have also received a generous contribution from Llantrisant Male Choir – who sang alongside them in Letchworth earlier this year.

Once the totting up for the year is done, City Chorus hope they will have raised £2,000.

City Chorus are just starting their winter season, rehearsing on Wednesday evenings at the Free Church in Norton Way South.

Chairman Jo Johnson said: “If you’re thinking of joining a choir, this is a great time to do it – no auditions, and no need to read music.

“We provide MP3 tracks of all parts, so you can sing along at home or in the car to learn your part. Our musical director Penny Manser and pianist Wendy Wray do everything they can to make the learning fun.

!We are a community choir, so open to all – yet won a competition this year to sing at the Great British Prom at Knebworth.

“That was a fantastic day, and we have many more exciting events planned for next year.

“We love to sing, we love to socialise, and we love raising money for charity.”
