Police are appealing for information after a man in his fifties suffered serious injuries in a car fire in Letchworth this morning.

At around 6am today (Saturday, March 3) a blue Ford Focus caught fire while parked at a farm entrance in Stotfold Road.

A man aged in his 50s from Letchworth, who was in the vehicle at the time of the fire, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital at this time.

Sergeant Paul Stanbridge, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “We are currently working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and I am appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the fire or witnessed the incident to contact me.

“If you were in the area around the time stated and have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle, we would also like to hear from you as you may have recorded footage that can help our investigation.”
