A Letchworth business is getting involved with the launch of Lymphoedema Awareness Week, from Sunday, March 4 to Saturday March 10.
Compression hosiery firm Gardamed Limited are supporting the ‘Sock It’ campaign that aims to raise awareness of the condition that – according to the latest studies – affects at least 240,000 people in the UK.
Letchworth-based Gardamed – alongside The British Lymphology Society and the Lymphoedema Support Network – are encouraging people to have a little fun wearing odd socks during the week, and share their pictures on social media using #LymphoedemaAwareness and #Sockit.
Founder of Gardamed, Mandy Wright, said: “Compression hosiery isn’t just for those suffering from Lymphoedema, anyone with a job that involves spending much of the day on their feet such as air stewards, hairdressers, nurses and pregnant women should be considering wearing compression hosiery as a preventative for future leg issues.”
