A 16-year-old boy from Letchworth has been arrested following a suspected arson and attempted car theft.
Police were called at 2.54am this morning to a garage fire in High Avenue, where they also found a motorbike in a nearby walkway which officers suspect was stolen.
Sightings of two casually-dressed white men attempting to steal a car in West View at 4.40am were also reported to police.
Officers are treating the two incidents as linked.
Det Sgt Will Ainsworth, who is investigating, said: “I am appealing for anyone who might have seen suspicious activity during the times stated to get in touch. You may have vital information that could help with our enquiries.”
A suspect remains in police custody.
