GREEN-FINGERED gardening gurus were rewarded for their blooming good work at an awards ceremony on Wednesday night.
Held at the Spirella Building in Letchworth GC, The Comet’s Letchworth and Hitchin In Bloom saw eight ace of spades pick up prizes as winners for categories including Best Front Garden, Best School Garden and Best Community Project, as well a Young Gardener of the Year for Stevenage, Letchworth and Hitchin In Bloom, which went to Connor McElroy.
Comet editor Darren Isted dished out the awards during the evening, which was sponsored by Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, Hitchin Initiative, Hitchin Area Committee, Garden Divas, ARCH Garden Centre, Allplas.co.uk and David’s Bookshop.
The winners for Letchworth In Bloom were:
Best Front Garden - Karen Smith
Best Back Garden - Coral and Fred Lomax
Best School Garden - Fearnhill
Business Garden - La Concha Wine Bar
The winners for Hitchin In Bloom were:
Best Front Garden - Dorothea Kindley
Best Back Garden - Judy Woodward
Business Garden - Bird In Hand
Community Project - Triangle Community Garden
