THE stepson of a former member of the RAF has earned his green beret after completing his Royal Marines training.

Lee Giles, 17, a former student of Nobel School, Stevenage, passed out on January 20 after completing a 32-week course at a commando training centre in Devon.

His mother, Tracey Salter, 43, of Norwich Close, Stevenage, said Lee's stepfather, Terence, was a big influence on his career.

She said: "Lee said if it wasn't for Terence he wouldn't have achieved it all."

Lee has joined the 1 Assault Group RM and wants to specialise in vehicle mechanics.
